As a result of a reorganization in 17th Air Force, the 7575th Operations Group was activated in 1977.  The group was originally comprised of two C-130 squadrons: the 7405th Operations Squadron and the 7th Special Operations Squadron.  On 1 March 1983, the 7th SOS was moved under control of 23rd Air Force.  During that same year, the 7580th Operations Squadron was established and assigned to the 7575th Operations Group.     

The 7575th Operations Group was inactivated on 23 January 1991 at Rhein-Main Air Base, Germany.
