The 7580th Operations Squadron was established by Special Order Number GB-12 on 28 February 1983.  It combined the personnel, supplies and equipment of Detachments 1 and 2 of the 7575th  Operations Group into a single unit.  The 7580th Operations Squadron consisted of both aircrew and maintenance personnel with specialized skills.  The mission of the 7580th Operations Squadron was threefold: conduct flight tests of navigational equipment/facilities in the European theater, perform field through depot level maintenance on unit specific equipment, and provide special supply account support for EUCOM directed missions.  The 7580th Operations Squadron was awarded four Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards.

The 7580th Operations Group was inactivated on 23 January 1991 at Rhein-Main Air Base, Germany.
